Cell 8C Excavation and Engineering Works

Following on from several other Cell developments at Greatness LFS, since 2008, Pope Plant Ltd were awarded the last Cell excavation and engineering on this site, Cell 8C.

The works comprised of excavating the Cell to formation in preparation for clay engineering. The works were awarded on a day work basis due to the continued good relationship between Cory’s and Pope Plant Ltd and the nature of the works which involved long hauling and working with several interested parties.

The works involved four companies, Cory Environmental, Tarmac, Pope and Chepstow’s.

An agreement was made between Cory’s and the adjacent Tarmac site that U/S engineering material was removed from the Cell and disposed of into a lake on the Tarmac site with engineering clay brought back the other way.

At this time, Tarmac were working with Chepstow’s who were carrying out an overburden/clay stripping contract to expose mineral material.

Pope plant Ltd worked closely with all parties involved and supplied all H&S documentation and implementation of policies to abide by all site rules and regulations. Once all earthworks were complete during some adverse weather conditions which interrupted progress several times, Pope Plant were commissioned to carry on and complete the Leachate drainage system in quick time, to complete the Cell.
