CLAY ENGINEERING
After Pope Plant Ltd completed the mass excavation of Cell 7 at Greatness Landfill at the end of 2010, we were required to come back in February 2011 and clay engineer the new Cell.
The Cell had been left over the winter months and we were required to de-water the Cell where it was then identified that there was water ingress through the Cell batter formation from redundant drainage pipes for the old brickworks.
Pope Plant Ltd installed a drainage and pumping system behind the Cell formation. Once complete, clay was excavated from stockpile, hauled, placed and compacted to form 600mm of engineered seal. Intercell bunds and leachate monitoring sumps were then installed in preparation for the client to install leachate management and control system.
