Building of commercial units and yard space
Following the acquisition of the former Brett site in St Michaels Close by Pope Plant Ltd sister company, Aveling Securities Ltd, works could finally commence on the building of 5 commercial units with associated yard space and landscaping, granted by Maidstone Borough Council.
It took over two and a half years of planning and several ecology issues to overcome before an excavator bucket was allowed to touch the ground
The initial works required levelling the site and creating large landscape areas for seeding and planting at a later date. All excavated material, circa 15000m3, remained on site to form the landscape areas.
The works were utilised as a convenient stop gap in between the unscheduled break in the previous contract. Pope Plant Ltd successfully completed its target within the time given and successfully managed to get the site to level and place secondary aggregate hard standing areas for proposed buildings in early 2018.
Pope Plant Ltd will be relocating its main work premises to new 500m2 purpose built unit, with yard space, to Aylesford sometime during 2019.
“All works were completed in a safe working manner with no Health and Safety issues or Near misses reported.”
